It’s been quite some time since my letter has landed in your inbox, but I’m thrilled to be back.
When I launched Modern Admin in July 2022, it was a space to navigate the ever-changing workplace — the move from in-person to remote, people strategy that actually works, the evolving role of admins, and the influence leadership has on culture.
And then my life changed.
In late 2023, my mom suffered a stroke. Not long after, my dad passed away from cancer. My focus shifted almost overnight. I was still working — but caregiving reshaped how, when, and why I worked.
After over 15 years in operations, I found myself re-entering the workforce with very different priorities.
I needed flexibility.
I needed remote work.
I needed compensation that matched experience.
What I found was frustrating.
Founders who needed experienced operators but didn’t know how to structure fractional support.
AND
Brilliant admins exploring flexible work, only to land on platforms that underpay or take massive cuts.
A lot of talent.
A lot of need.
Not enough thoughtful connection between the two.
I was fortunate. My network opened doors.
But access shouldn’t depend on who you know.
Starting this week, Modern Admin is a weekly curated resource connecting experienced operators with remote and fractional opportunities — along with select roles submitted directly by founders building lean teams.
We’re starting simple:
Thoughtfully sourced roles, shared weekly.
Over time, we’ll expand into deeper resources and tools to support both operators and the companies hiring them.
But first, we focus on making better connections — consistently.
