Modern Admin Weekly | Issue No.021

Hi — Liz here. 👋🏾 Happy last days of Q3 to all those who celebrate.

We’re back just in time for a new season with a new newsletter and a new website!

sneak peek

For those of you who have been around since 2022, we’ve launched several iterations of this newsletter since then. And today we’re combining the best of all worlds.

Modern Admin helps you find workplaces worth joining and build ones worth staying in.

In addition to our usual curation of roles, we’ll be unpacking workplace scenarios, sharing tools & home office items we love, highlighting industry news and creating resources to help you navigate work a little better.

We also have a new address! Find us at modernadminhq.com, where you can access past issues and so much more.

Let’s get into it.

🔎 How We Curate

Every role featured in Modern Admin meets the following criteria:

🧑🏽‍💻 Flexibility Matters — we prioritize flexibility, but great work can happen in person too
💰 Pay Transparency — if a company knows their budget, so should you
🤝 Culture Check — we look beyond the job description at the employee experience
🗂 Role Integrity — titles should match scope (no inflated or misleading roles)
🌱 Room to Grow — we look for meaningful ownership and career-building experience
🗓️ Still Hiring — every role is verified before we publish

The fine print: Employee reviews flag challenges around management, communication and the frontline experience—meaning there may be meaningful culture-building work ahead.

🗣️ Meet Your Culture Committee

you have workplace questions? we have answers. reply to this email with yours!

Your question:

“I’m new to a company and morale is low after a restructuring. I’ve made improvements across perks and comms and hosted an event, but the energy still feels off. Thoughts?”

Our take:

Restructures carry their own complexities, so solutions will vary from org to org. But you can start with 1:1 engagement with individual contributors to get closer to the root—whether that’s an IRL or remote lunch, coffee or just a phone call. If former colleagues were laid off, there could be guilt, resentment or simply nostalgia for the way the workplace once felt. That doesn’t mean it can’t get really good again, but it might mean the solution is bigger than what P&C alone can fix.
