Modern Admin Weekly | Issue No.016
Hi — Liz here. 👋🏾
I expected hiring to slow down once summer hit.
In some ways, it has. There were fewer standout opportunities this week.
But the roles that did stand out told a really interesting story.
Office Managers earning up to $205K. HR leaders expected to use AI. More fractional People Ops opportunities. And a continued shift toward strategic operators across every function.
Let's get into it.
🔎 How We Curate
Every role featured in Modern Admin meets the following criteria:
🧑🏽💻 Flexibility First — remote and hybrid roles that reflect how modern teams operate
💰 Compensation Transparency — if a company knows their budget, so should you
🤝 Culture Check — we look beyond reviews to assess leadership, tone, and reputation
🗂 Role Integrity — titles should match scope (no inflated or misleading roles)
🗓️ Recency — we prioritize fresh opportunities (~2 weeks)
01. People Operations Manager
Fair Trade USA
$105K-$115K
Remote (US) | Full-Time
Posted July 9 2026
Compensation is quickly becoming one of the most strategic functions within People Operations, and Fair Trade USA is looking for someone to lead that work. This role goes well beyond payroll and benefits, spanning pay equity, job architecture, workforce analytics, employee relations, and total rewards strategy. If you enjoy translating data into thoughtful people practices—and want to do so within a mission-driven organization committed to ethical business—this is a compelling opportunity to explore
02. Executive Assistant - Alliances Executive Support
Crowdstrike
$86K–$135K + bonus + equity
Remote (US) | Full-Time
Posted July 2 2026
CrowdStrike is looking for an Executive Assistant who operates as much more than a calendar manager. Supporting senior leaders within the company's Alliances organization, this role combines executive support with project management, operational planning, and cross-functional coordination. From leading executive operating rhythms and planning offsites to improving workflows with AI, it's a strong example of how the Executive Assistant profession continues to evolve into a highly strategic business partnership.
03. Global Workplace Experience Manager
Fluidstack
$140K–$205K + equity
Onsite (SF or Austin) | Full-Time
Posted June 20 2026
A quick note before this one: although this role was originally posted a few weeks ago, it's still actively accepting applications—and the salary alone made it worth including.
Fluidstack's Global Workplace Experience Lead is, at its core, a modern evolution of the Office Manager role, blending workplace operations, hospitality, vendor management, employee experience, and facilities into one highly strategic position. With compensation reaching $205K plus equity, it's a compelling reminder that creating exceptional workplaces has become a critical business function, particularly within high-growth AI companies.
04. Chief of Staff
Tact
$90K–$170K
Remote (US) | Full-Time
Posted July 7 2026
For operators looking to step into the Chief of Staff seat, this fintech opportunity offers more than just a front-row seat to company growth—it offers a clear path toward future operational leadership. Working directly alongside the CEO, you'll lead strategic initiatives across the business, build the systems needed to scale, and help establish the operating rhythms that keep a fast-growing company moving forward. The broad salary range reflects the level of experience they're seeking, but so does the opportunity to shape the next chapter of the business.
05. Fractional People Operations Lead
BrewBird
$55–$90/hour + equity
Hybrid (SF) | Fractional (10–15 hrs/week)
Posted July 3 2026
Fractional People Operations opportunities continue to gain momentum, and BrewBird is another example of how startups are rethinking their first HR hire. Rather than building a full-time People team, this Bay Area Series A backed coffee technology company is looking for an experienced HR generalist to own everything from payroll and benefits to employee relations, compliance, and performance management. Reporting directly to the CEO, it's an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building operational foundations, working autonomously, and partnering closely with leadership during an early stage of growth.
06. Fractional People/HR Lead
Compound
Remote (US) | Fractional
Posted July 9 2026
Building a People function from scratch requires a very different skill set than maintaining one, and this fractional opportunity at Compound Foundation makes that distinction clear. Reporting to the COO, you'll build the organization's hiring and people infrastructure from the ground up, owning everything from recruiting operations and compensation to onboarding, policies, and global workforce strategy. What stood out most to me wasn't the crypto industry—it was the expectation that People leaders combine operational excellence with strong business judgment, clear communication, and AI fluency. For experienced HR professionals looking to shape an organization from its earliest stages, this is a fascinating role to explore.
A small thing I’ve been using enjoying lately

If you read last week's issue, you know I'm spending the summer in the UK/Europe. While I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity, being away from my usual space has made me realize how much comfort lives in routine.
One thing I knew I wasn't willing to compromise on was my weekly bouquet of flowers.
I don't have a product to recommend this week—just a reminder that sometimes "home" isn't a place. It's the small rituals we choose to keep.
Even if it's an £8 bouquet from Tesco.
Until next time, stay modern.
